MEET THE TEAM
With a BA in Social Work & Welfare Studies from the University of Central Lancashire, Kim is a NOCN trained mediator with more than a decade of experience in community, family and workplace mediation. Completing her PTTLS training in 2007, Kim also delivers high quality training in mediation skills and conflict management. Kim is passionate about the benefits of mediation and continues to take an active role as a mediator for ADR. She has been a practicing mediator for 20 years.
Steven has taken a pivotal role in the growth and development of the organisation. He builds and maintains strong relationships with our partners and has a wealth of experience in improving strategy and processes. As an innovator, he strives to continually enhance our services and ensures that ADR is responsive to changes in demand. Steven is also an active mediator for ADR.
Amanda is a fully licenced accountant and bookkeeper (AATQB) and a fellow member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT) with 20 years’ experience in a financial capacity. She focuses on the practical questions involved in getting things done and is capable of focusing on the right details to achieve results. She is an important part of the ADR Mediation team.
Janette specialises in business support and administration. She is able to take on a large workload and uses her organisational skills to help us manage and deliver our services. Janette has been a key supporting figure behind our recent expansion.
Grace graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2020 and then the University of Law in 2021. Her previous experience includes positions at Amnesty International UK, Citizens Advice Bureau and East Manchester Legal Advice Centre. She trained with Phoenix Dispute Solutions and became IMI and CIArb certified upon completion of training.
As a law graduate, Grace understands the vital role that mediation plays in dispute resolution and wanted to be involved in the sector. She joined ADR Mediation in early 2022, initially delivering local mediations.
She has developed as a professional whilst at ADR, undertaking various training, such as mental health first aid and conflict theory. She now delivers conflict coaching sessions as well as mediations further afield, whilst continuing her studies of the LPC LLM.
She looks forward to continuing working alongside the team at ADR.
Marie Coombes worked for Royal Mail for 17 years, specialising in general HR, conflict resolution and mediation, training, change management, employee and industrial relations and employee engagement. During this time, she worked the length and breadth of the country from her base in South Yorkshire. In 2014 she became an accredited mediator through the Open College Network and was instrumental in building the in-house mediation team spanning the whole of Royal Mail. A highly experienced mediator, she has completed over 300 mediations in a variety of complex and often volatile environments and industry sectors. Her ability to quickly build strong relationships with frontline staff, union officials and management at all levels have smoothed the way to a successful outcome in an overwhelming majority of her cases.
As an experienced trainer, Marie’s primary focus is providing courses that exceed client’s and delegate’s expectations, and throughout her career, she has designed and delivered many courses with huge success across all areas of mediation. In addition to Royal Mail, clients have included Unison, TSB, the Civil Service, AstraZeneca, Capgemini and various NHS Trusts throughout the UK.
She is particularly interested in mental health and the impact conflict has on employee well-being and psychological safety as well as mediator wellbeing. Before leaving Royal Mail, she was the mediation team mentor for mental health issues in mediation and a company-wide mental health ambassador. She regularly discusses supporting mental health in mediation and other complex conversations, including a highly regarded half-day CPD session. She is also a mental health first aider and instructor member and delivers both the adult and refresher courses.
Having been one of the recipients of Mediation Team of the Year on several occasions at the National Mediation Awards whilst at Royal Mail, in 2020 the Civil Mediation Council recognised Marie’s individual excellence in mediation when she was awarded Workplace Mediator of the Year. The judges were highly impressed with her expertise in mental health and her rapid adaptation from face-to-face to online service delivery in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. Marie also holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
Diane became involved in mediation through her background in the justice system, having worked within the psychological services department of a category B prison for 10 years. She has experience of working within the areas of resettlement, offending behaviour programmes, case management for those at risk of self harm and suicide, and restorative justice. The latter prompting her to become a mediator to offer alternative interventions for prisoners, their families and the community.
Diane is a qualified HR professional and has extensive experience as a people manager. She is a qualified NLP practitioner and coach, as well as a mental health first aid instructor.
Her experience and knowledge of the psychology of conflict allows her to bring a responsive and inclusive approach to her role as a mediator and trainer.
Adrian has mediated nationally and internationally since 2015, working with clients, barristers, solicitors, advocates, and lawyers to facilitate communication between disputants, to further parties’ understanding of different perspectives, and to guide parties’ towards mutual agreement in civil and commercial disputes.
Adrian takes the time to design the best process to seek resolution for each bespoke situation. His international experience means he is adept at dealing with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and business cultures, this combined with careful preparation allows for swift and effective progress to be made on the mediation day.
Adrian prides himself on his even-handed demeanour, bringing calm to even the most emotionally charged disputes. His ability to help each side understand the other’s point of view breaks down natural barriers to resolution and builds bridges towards compromise.
