We have just launched two exciting new training courses, both taking place initially in June 2022.
Conflict Coaching Course
The first course on Monday 20th June is Conflict Coaching.
The main objectives of this course are:
- Gain an understanding of conflict theory
- Introduce the concept of coaching vs mediation, and its place in helping resolve conflict
- Understand and develop the key skills needed to be a coach
- Examine and overcome barriers to client progression
- Understand how to support yourself while supporting others
In this course you will learn the skills to support individuals on a one-to-one basis so that they can learn to resolve conflicts constructively.
Help them gain the confidence and competences they need to resolve conflicts, be it in the community, their family or workplace.
Mediation and Mental Health Course
The second course is a week later on Monday 27th June and this is all about the link between mediation and mental health.
In this course we will cover the following:
- Conflict and its relationship with mental wellbeing
- How to spot the symptoms and support parties through the most common mental illnesses
- What to do in a crisis situation
- How to evaluate a party’s capacity to mediate
- Tips on looking after your own wellbeing
This course isn’t just for mediators. If coaching or facilitation is part of your role, or your day to day life, this course offers a practical way for you to learn the skills you need whilst providing a clear understanding of the link between mediation and mental health.
If you work in HR, as a line manager, or trainer, this is the course for you.
You will also have the opportunity to put into practice what you learn through discussion and role play.
Conflict resolution specialist, Marie Coombes will deliver both of these new courses.
Marie, who has over 20 years’ experience in her field, worked for Royal Mail for 17 years, specialising in conflict resolution and mediation, training, change management, employee and industrial relations and employee engagement.
In 2014 she became an accredited mediator through the Open College Network. A highly experienced mediator, she has completed over 200 cases in a variety of complex and often volatile environments and industry sectors. Her strong relationships with frontline staff, union officials and management at all levels has smoothed the way to a successful outcome in an overwhelming majority of her cases.
“A great session and delivered well by the trainer, who obviously has great experience and knowledge of mental health.”
“Brilliant!! I left the session with more confidence in myself as a mediator than when I started it.”
“The examples and personal narratives gave the session a relevance and practical benefit that will translate into real mediation sessions easily. It wasn’t just a list of mental health conditions, it enabled me (us) to explore what those conditions ask of us as mediators.”
